Pigment preparations

Providing sustainable environmental, social and economic advantages

Pigment preparations are colorant solutions that are fully dispersed, free-flowing, and easy to meter. They are the more efficient way to color when compared to their powder counterparts.

With advantages such as shorter change-over times, easier cleaning for production lines, and significant reduction in reworking production batches, it's no wonder they are gaining a lot of momentum as we engineer new color solutions.

Pigment Preparations for Plastics

In the top part of the video, you see the production of a masterbatch using a powder pigment. Whereas in the bottom portion, you see the production of a masterbatch using Microlen® pigment preparation

How pigment preparations improve the total cost of ownership (TCO):

  • Up to 65% higher throughput
  • Significant capacity gains
  • Avoid unnecessary batch rework
  • Improve scale-up from lab to production

TiO2 New Classification

This February, the EU classified titanium dioxide as suspected carcinogen by inhalation per the CLP regulation, which will be broadly applied throughout the EU supply chain no later than October 1, 2021.

After a portfolio analysis, our Product Safety and Regulatory Team has found that no Colors & Effects products are subject to the new classification.
